Reception and Reservations
Fixed term. November to April 2025
The Purpose of the Position:
A front-line customer service and reservations role providing an efficient and quality
service to our clients, visitors and sailors.
Hours and Location:
The position is at Abel Tasman Sailing Adventures ticketing office, located opposite the
middle of Kaiteriteri Beach, Tasman Region. Approximately 4 days per week. Work
pattern to be negotiated. The Kaiteriteri Office is open 7 days a week so you need to be
flexible in days available to work. You will participate in a roster and expected to work your
share of weekends and public holidays.
Principal Duties:
- Take an interest in the whole operation of Abel Tasman Sailing Adventures and ensure customers have the best experience with us.
- Receive and process bookings and email enquiries, at the counter, telephone and online.
- Welcome all visitors and callers.
- Process customer check in for all sailing tours.
- Help with planning and smooth running of daily operations including preparing daily boat manifests.
- To provide support to Operation Manager and sea going staff.
- To be involved in the shore side preparations needed for outgoing boat charters.
- Undertake general office duties.
- Help maintain and promote online presence including social media.
- Promotion of Abel Tasman Sailing Adventures business.
- Assist with Passenger transfers (If you carry a Passenger endorsed driving license)
- Attend staff meetings as required.
- Work flexibly and effectively as a member of our team.
- In addition to the duties listed, the jobholder will be required to undertake other duties as reasonably requested from time to time.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Previous customer service experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Self-motivated and can complete work on your own initiative
- Ability to work independently as well as within our small team.
- A pleasant, welcoming, friendly & confident manner.
- Great time management, organisational and prioritising skills.
- Accuracy and consistent attention to detail
- Solid computer skills (Microsoft Office).
- Confidence in Social media promotion and other online channels
- The ability to work under pressure and to strict time schedules
- The ability to identify and maximise sales opportunities.
- Be flexible and adaptable
- Have a positive, enthusiastic, can-do attitude.
Desirable criteria:
A clean, current driving license with Passenger endorsement
Knowledge and an interest in Boating and the Abel Tasman Region
